What Does Construction Contracting Involve?
How contracting works in practice: preparing the design, setting the estimate and choosing a pricing method.
Companies that undertake to build a structure on behalf of another person or organisation are known as construction contracting firms. The process is secured by legal contracts and technical specifications.
Contracting work is made up of three main stages:
1. Preparing the design: Final drawings are produced from the site plan, the architectural drawings and the soil survey.
2. Setting the estimate: The expected material and labour cost is calculated and presented as a transparent budget.
3. Pricing and tender: One of the unit price, cost plus or lump sum methods is chosen, the contract is signed and construction begins.
