Contracting and the Duties of a Contractor

Who is the contractor? Their legal duties during construction and the requirements for becoming one.
A contractor is the person or company that undertakes to carry out building work in line with the agreement and the design. They lead the process legally, technically and administratively.
The main duties of a contractor:
- Coordinating the site and managing every crew on it.
- Checking site safety standards and the quality of construction materials.
- Running the municipal permit, zoning and building inspection procedures correctly.
- Completing the project by the delivery date agreed.
To work as a contractor in Turkey today you must be over eighteen, hold a contractor licence issued by the provincial directorate of environment and urbanisation, and fall into a class that matches your capital and completed work record.
